The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership (Estuario) is seeking qualified applicants to provide Communications support to the Urban Waters Ambassador, who supports the implementation of the CMP Ecosystem Restoration Project.
ABOUT ESTUARIO
The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501©3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario. The Estuario became part of the National Estuary Program (NEP) in 1994 and is the only tropical and non-continental location within the NEP under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario’s mission is to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. Estuario’s work is guided by a master restoration plan known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) for the San Juan Bay Estuary.
URBAN WATERS FEDERAL PARTNERSHIP- SUPPORT FOR THE CAÑO MARTÍN PEÑA ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION PROJECT
The Caño Martín Peña Ecosystem Restoration Project (ERP) is a complex, multi-million-dollar project that is a priority for the Estuario as a critical environmental justice challenge facing the watershed. The Estuario is an active member of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee for the ERP, and provides water quality monitoring data to the Caño Martín Peña. The Estuario has participated in partnership meetings with representations from US EPA, US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE), US Small Business Administration, US Forest Service, Puerto Rico DNER, the ENLACE Project for the Caño Martín Peña, the Group of the 8 Communities Adjacent to the Caño Martín Peña, among others. These ongoing multistakeholder efforts, led an increase in the amount authorized for the project from $150 M to $256 M after US Congress amended the Water Resources Development Act. As part of the partnership, the Urban Waters Ambassador will continue to efforts towards supporting the CMP ERP. The Communications Support will help develop communications content on progress and work done related to the CMP to be shared with CMP Urban Waters Federal Partners in the manner of a newsletter and with UW headquarters as monthly highlights.
Responsibilities:
- Develop communications content in coordination with the Urban Waters Ambassador in the form of a CMP Urban Waters Federal Partnership newsletter to relay information on work done/progress, funding opportunities, updates from the Urban Waters Program and other relevant information. The newsletter is to be developed monthly.
- Develop monthly highlights related to work performed at the CMP Urban Waters location to inform the Urban Waters Program and be used in their monthly newsletter. Information is to be developed in English.
Required Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- Working experience producing multimedia and social media content in English and Spanish, editing videos.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of the Estuario and its mission.
- Strong written skills both in Spanish and English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Outlook (managing a contact database), Word, and Excel (creating charts and graphics).
- Ability to work independently.
- Provide their own personal computer.
- Ability to prioritize time efficiently, work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, cloud-based data access and share software such as Google Drive, and other software such as Adobe, etc. required.
- Provide their own personal computer and/or transportation.
