Boat Travel Service for Scientific Research

The San Juan Bay Estuary Program is seeking proposals or pricing for boat trips in San Juan Bay:

  • Includes areas in the San Juan Bay Estuary system, including but not limited to San Juan Bay, Canal San Antonio, Canal Suarez, Canal Blasina, Canal La Malaria, Condado Lagoon, Los Corozos Lagoon, Piñones Lagoon, San Jose Lagoon, Torrecillas Lagoon, San Anton Creek, and Caño Martín Peña.
  • Space for a minimum of four (4) people. In some instances, additional space may be required. Describe the space capacity of the boat.
  • At least three (3) hours of boat ride
  • Provide boating services for:
    • Water quality monitoring project
    • Guided trips for educational and ecotourism purposes
    • Addressing potential pollution problems or any other situation of concern to Estuario
    • Scientific studies (bathymetry, microplastics, bird census, fish census, others)
    • Trips to the Estuary ecosystem as part of the implementation of the entity’s comprehensive management and conservation plan
    • Any other activity required by Estuario

THE BOAT’S ATTENDEES MUST BE CERTIFIED BY THE COAST GUARD

USCG Marine Credential (Master and/or Operator of Uninspected Passenger Captain License)

What to include in your proposal or price list: 

  • Full name
  • Contact information (phone, email)
  • Cost per trip
  • Maximum number of people per vessel (excluding the captain)
  • Vessel footprint
  • Maximum amount of time included in your rate
  • Location of the start/end dock of the route
  • Insurance (if applicable)

Additionally, the following information must be sent

  • Merchant registration
  • Photo ID of the person signing
  • Tax withholding exemption if applicable
  • Employer Assumption Certificate
  • Evidence of State Insurance Fund Corporation (CFSE) policy
  • State Fund Insurance Policy
  • Navigation license
