Green Infrastructure Coordinator (full time staff position)
The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership (Estuario) is seeking a qualified applicant to fulfill a full-time staff position as Green Infrastructure Coordinator. The Green Infrastructure Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all projects related to green infrastructure and coastal resilience to support the implementation of the Estuario Plan, also known as the Comprehensive Conservation Management Plan (CCMP).
ABOUT ESTUARIO
The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501©3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario. The Estuario became part of the National Estuary Program (NEP) in 1994 and is the only tropical and non-continental location within the NEP under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario’s mission is to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. The work is guided by the Estuario Plan, a master restoration plan for the San Juan Bay Estuary officially known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP).
The Green Infrastructure Coordinator will support the following projects/initiatives:
Juan Mendez Creek Restoration Project
The Green Infrastructure will carry out data collection/ assessments of green/gray infrastructure as necessary to develop strategies related to green infrastructure/ nature-based solutions that attend to the issues that have been identified.
Green Infrastructure Master Plan
The Green Infrastructure Coordinator will lead stakeholder efforts in the validation of the Green Infrastructure Master Plan through a comprehensive public participatory process.
Coastal Resilience Project
The Green Infrastructure Coordinator will oversee the execution of the scientific and technical aspect of the Coastal Resilience Project, a capacity building and reforestation project that restores capacity of coastal ecosystems to withstand the impact of severe atmospheric events.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure execution of actions related to Green Infrastructure within the Estuario Plan, also known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP).
- Lead the validation process of the Green Infrastructure Master Plan for Stormwater Management for the region such that adaptation and restoration projects can be conceptualized in collaboration with communities and stakeholders.
- Lead and document stakeholder facilitation to develop partnerships and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to align interests in green infrastructure, urban forestry, reforestation projects, nature-based solutions, and the Coastal Resilience Project to advance efforts in these areas.
- Develop science-based strategies and interventions related to urban forestry, nature-based solutions, restoration, and coastal resilience efforts and provide expertise in related themes.
- Identify and develop opportunities to advance reforestation and green infrastructure efforts in collaboration with other Estuario team members.
- Oversee the technical and scientific progress of any efforts related to coastal resilience, working closely with the Scientific Director, and other staff members as needed to advance these efforts.
General Responsibilities
- Work closely with the grants and compliance team to ensure compliance with the annual work plan and BIL funding and support in the development of annual work plans and budgets related to green infrastructure projects.
- Document work and project management, prepares reports measuring the results of the assigned projects, and for the justification of their budget.
- Monitoring established protocols as per EPA and other relevant agency regulations and reviewing quality documentation necessary for regulatory submissions and inspections as needed.
- Communicate with key stakeholders to determine project objectives and funding sources.
- Negotiate with project stakeholders or suppliers to obtain resources or materials.
- Plan, schedule or coordinate project activities to meet deadlines.
- Create project status presentations for delivery to community leaders, government agencies, volunteers, contractors, public, and others.
- Develop or update plans including information such as objectives, technologies, schedules, funding, and staffing.
- Monitor project plans and deliverables.
- Request and review project updates to ensure deadlines are met.
- Submit project deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Continuous support for the goals, objectives, and actions of the management and conservation plan for the San Juan Bay Estuary.
- Assists in any other tasks to advance the work plans of the organization.
Required Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree in field(s) related to green infrastructure such as forestry, landscape architecture, ecology, environmental or civil engineering, environmental sciences, natural resources manager, water resources, natural sciences, agriculture, environmental planning, or infrastructure management. Master’s degree preferred in related fields.
- Four (4) to six (6) years of professional experience in a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidates must have excellent computer, organizational, verbal, and written skills. The ability to manage multiple projects and being detail-oriented is required. Candidates should have experience with stormwater management projects as well as background with sustainable and resilient design and significant knowledge of green infrastructure concepts and principles, and experience. Basic understanding of GIS is required; experience in GIS analysis preferred.
Compensation:
Approximately $52,000
