Strengthening the green infrastructure of the Condado Lagoon
On Sunday, January 18, 2026, ten volunteers assisted in the planting of 16 coastal vegetation trees and plants in the Condado Lagoon, as part of the SJBEP Certification for Citizen Scientists’ Coastal Resilience module.
The experience included an educational talk and the strategic planting of species such as button mangroves, ambay pumpwood, holywook, Brazilian grape tree, pond apple, yellow abey and palm, placed among deteriorating almond trees.
We thank the citizen scientists who participated and continue to contribute, with their time and commitment, to the recovery and strengthening of the coastal ecosystems connected to the SJBE. Every planting is an investment in the future of our waters and communities.
