Estuario Project Coordinator –Remote Monitoring
The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario is seeking a Project Coordinator to join our highly skilled team to support out the data management and analysis for water quality monitoring under the EPA approved QAPP for Real Time Remote Telemetric (RTRT) Water Quality Monitoring and be responsible for related data management and analysis.
ABOUT ESTUARIO
The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501c3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario. The Estuario became part of the National Estuary Program (NEP) in 1994 and is the only tropical and non-continental location within the NEP under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario’s mission is to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. The work is guided by the Estuario Plan, a master restoration plan for the San Juan Bay Estuary officially known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP).
The Estuario Project Coordinator- Remote Monitoring will support the installation of a remote water quality monitoring system at various locations throughout the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed. The Estuario Project Coordinator will report to the Scientific Director and implement the EPA – Approved Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for Real Time Remote Telemetric (RTRT) water quality monitoring. The Estuario Project Coodinator- Monitoring will carry out the data collection and analysis using a remote monitoring system at the established fixed stations in order to study the behavior of the ecosystem during inclement weather and other limiting conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Support in the installation of the data buoy systems for the remote water quality monitoring system.
- Carry out EPA- Approved Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for Real Time Remote Telemetric (RTRT) Water Quality Monitoring.
- Provide support with any modifications of the RTRT Water Quality Monitoring QAPP as necessary.
- Perform data management including collection, organization, analysis, interpretation and presentation of results.
- Submit progress and/or technical reports as needed.
- Follow manufacture’s specification and protocols and EPA approved QAPP regarding materials and/or instruments under the RTRT Water Quality Monitoring QAPP.
Required Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- Bachelors in environmental sciences or other related fields, Master’s degree preferred
- Experience working in water bodies/on boats
- Knowable in skills regarding water quality data instrumentation and remote data systems
- Water quality data management
- Availability to work remotely and 7 days a week, depending on Estuario and community’s calendar
- Ability to work under pressure, in a team, and for long hours if required
