Estuario Weekly Update
Through our weekly update we share opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, and work; through initiatives and actions programmed for the benefit of the ecosystems and communities of the San Juan Bay Estuary. These activities, tips and information are for everyone’s benefit.
International Coastal Cleanup 2022 at Condado Lagoon
Last Saturday, October 29, the 2022 International Coastal Cleanup was held, organized by the Scuba Dogs Society. Estuario joined the event from the South, East and Northeast areas of the Condado Lagoon Natural Estuarine Reserve (RNELC). We had the participation of 41 volunteers from the groups Amigos de la Laguna, Troop 240 of Guaynabo, and Plugging PR, among other volunteers. A total of 13 bags were collected across the coastline. Thanks to all the volunteers who joined!

The eventwill be held on November 15, 16 and 17, 2022, from 8:30AM-5PM at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón and virtually through Zoom.

Weekly water quality monitoring
Evaluation conducted on Thursday, November 3, 2022. We have a GREEN flag for the Condado Lagoon Natural Estuarine Reserve and nearby beaches. However, this weekend a system with a high probability of precipitation is approaching, so we recommend avoiding direct contact with water bodies during the rain event and at least 48 hours after it has passed.
