Other activities

Kilómetros de cambio:

The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership stands in solidarity with the Kilómetros de cambio movement, a relay race throughout the island of Puerto Rico that will be held continuously, over three days, to raise funds in benefit of women victims of gender violence.

The executive director of the SJBEP, Brenda Torres, will be part of Route #7 from Quebradillas to Aguadilla (13.55 miles), on May 17, 2024, along with ten other runners. The group will be captained by athlete Melissa Rios.

At Estuario, we understand that the state of our environment reflects our quality of life and that, to achieve environmental justice, resilience, and access to clean water, it is imperative to eradicate violence from our communities. Learn more about Kilómetros de cambio, here.

Bird census in Punta Salinas:

On Monday, April 22, Earth Day, our public engagement specialist, Eliezer Nieves, led a participatory bird census in the Punta Salinas Forest, with citizen science students from the Espíritu Santo Academy in Toa Baja.

The students took this tour as part of their certification as citizen scientists, in the thematic module of Participatory Bird Censuses, where they learn techniques to identify birds, how to document them, and their importance within the ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary.
