Asset Identification Workshops for Watershed Hazard Mitigation Plan

Estuario continues the process toward the development of Puerto Rico’s first multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan.

This week, Estuario began with its first round of Asset Identification Workshops for its Watershed Hazard Mitigation Plan. The workshop for communities in the coastal zone of Cataño hosted ten participants, while the workshop for urban zone communities of San Juan had eleven.

The week beginning Monday, April 26 2021 will include workshops for the communities of Bayamón urban area, Guaynabo urban & coastal areas, San Juan rural area, Bayamón rural area, and Carolina urban area. 

New Round of Citizen Scientist Certification Workshops

A new round of elective workshops for Estuario’s Citizen Scientist Certification Program begins the month of May 2021, featuring the Participatory Bird Census, Water Quality and Characterization & Reduction of Microplastics modules. 

Estuario and National Park Service Collaborative Workshops

The third collaborative workshop between Estuario and the National Park Service of Puerto Rico happened on wednesday, April 21 2021. Scientific Innovations in 18th-Century Old San Juan Fortresses attracted 57 participants. The next and last of this collaborative series of workshops is: Old San Juan Through Poverty, Attacks, Hurricanes & Pandemics, on Wednesday, April 18, 2021 at 3PM. 

Estuario Deposes at the 12th National Monitoring Conference

We’re proud to highlight the participation of Estuario’s Intergovernmental and Policy Coordinator, María Gabriela Huertas Díaz, at the 12th NWQMC’s Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) Lightning Round, on Monday April 19, 2021. The deposition included the broadcasting of an informative video, which Huertas produced and narrated. See the video below, or click HERE.
