Data Specialist
The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership (Estuario) is seeking qualified applicants for the data specialist position to support integration of a new technology platform and maintain any new dashboards and/or platforms.
The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario. Established in 1994, we are the only tropical and non-continental location within the National Estuary Program (NEP) under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario operates as a partnership committed to their collective responsibility to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. Estuario’s work is guided by a master restoration plan known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) for the San Juan Bay Estuary. The Green Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for ensuring execution of actions related to Green Infrastructure within the CCMP, also known as the Estuario Plan.
In November 2021, Congress passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) to invest in the nation’s infrastructure. Estuario will use IIJA funding to restore the Juan Méndez Creek in the municipality of San Juan through high-impact blue-green infrastructure interventions. In order to ensure successful execution of the work plan under this funding, Estuario will build internal capacity to support the operations of the projects. This includes enhancing associated technology needs such as software to perform programmatic and administrative tasks, in addition to mapping, and tracking stakeholder engagement and communication. The Data Specialist will support this process and the integration of new platforms and/or dashboard into the Estuario’s technology platform, and manage the data that will be developed.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and integration of new technology being developed.
- Manage and maintain new platforms, and validate data of new technology that will be developed.
- Conduct data analysis and prepare reports.
Required Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, information systems, computer science, information management, biostatistics, evaluation, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
At least 3 years working in informatics, analytics, strategic information, or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Prior experience overseeing and managing integration of new systems. .
- Prior experience with both descriptive and predictive analytics is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience database skills.
- Provide their own personal computer, software, and transportation.
