Project Lead (CCMP Revision)

Estuario is seeking an experienced Project Lead to oversee the revision of the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP), also known as the Estuario Plan. This position will serve as a liaison between Estuario staff and the consultant that is carrying out the revision process according to EPA guidelines.

The Project Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for providing oversight of the daily work of the project to meet specific objectives and outputs, while ensuring the project stays on schedule, in compliance with EPA guidelines, and aligns with Estuario’s mission. The CCMP Revision Consultant is the service provider responsible for developing and refining the content of the revised CCMP in collaboration with staff members according to their area of expertise. The Project Lead will be responsible for facilitating this exchange to ensure that staff input is integrated and constantly ensuring quality control of the content. The Project Lead will also be responsible for ensuring overall cohesiveness and consistency among the distinctive action plans. The Project Lead will help to ensure the outputs of this activity are completed successfully by serving as a liaison between the CCMP Revision Consultant and Estuario staff.

ABOUT ESTUARIO

The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501c3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario. The Estuario became part of the National Estuary Program (NEP) in 1994 and is the only tropical and non-continental location within the NEP under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario’s mission is to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. The work is guided by the Estuario Plan, a master restoration plan for the San Juan Bay Estuary officially known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project efforts in coordination with Estuario’s project team, validate the products being developed by the CCMP Revision Consultant, ensure quality control and compliance with EPA guidelines.
  • Maintain and update a project management file to document progress and develop reports as needed.
  • Work closely with the CCMP Revision Consultant to facilitate project execution.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources as needed, ensuring projects remain within scope, and schedule in collaboration with project staff and consultants.
  • Analyze project progress and, when necessary, adapt timeline to ensure that project team adheres to project requirements.

Required Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree Environmental Management, Ecology, Engineering, Planning, or related field, Master’s degree preferred
  • Over 5 years of experience working in non-profits, specifically those that work in water quality restoration and conservation ecosystem restoration, water resources, coastal restoration, or similar areas
  • Preferred knowledge in science relating to watershed protection and management.

  • Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines
  • Strong presentation and organizational skills
