Content Developer

The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership (Estuario) is seeking qualified applicants for the Content Developer position, responsible for creating high-quality written and visual content for websites, blogs, social media, and marketing materials. This person will be part of Estuarios’ Communication Team and will be led by the Communications Consultant. Our communications program includes a wide range of tools and activities that promote the understanding of the complex aquatic ecosystem in which most of the Puerto Rico Metro Area population lives and increase community engagement.

ABOUT THE SAN JUAN BAY ESTUARY PARTNERSHIP

The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Est4uary Partnership, or Estuario. Established in 1994, we are the only tropical and non-continental location within the National Estuary Program (NEP) under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario operates as a partnership committed to their collective responsibility to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. Estuario’s work is guided by a master restoration plan known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) for the San Juan Bay Estuary.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on identified topics to present accurate information, statistics, and relevant examples for content creation.
  • Content creation for websites, blogs, social media, and marketing materials aimed at raising awareness of the restoration efforts in the San Juan Bay Estuary system.
  • Optimize content for search engines by incorporating keywords, meta descriptions, and proper formatting to improve visibility.
  • Review and refine content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to Estuarios’ tone and style.
  • Implement best practices to enhance content visibility.
  • Create content for stakeholders and public engagement.
  • Analyze content performance using analytics tools to identify trends, audience engagement, and opportunities for improvement or content repurposing.
  • Maintain content calendars and production schedules to ensure the timely delivery of all content assets according to project deadlines and important dates, celebrating nature and the environment.

Required Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or a related field AND several credit hours in community development from an accredited university; at least 5 years’ experience working with the media in Puerto Rico, and a strong local media network.
  • Proven experience in content creation, writing, or content development.
  • Strong writing skills in English and Spanish required.
  • Verbal and written communication, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze content performance and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Team player.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Content strategy and experience with search engine optimization for keyword search.
  • Experience in developing content performance metrics and audience analysis.
  • Writing and editing
  • Content management systems.
  • Creative Writing for different platforms for social media.
  • Strong ability to gather, verify, and synthesize information from credible sources.
  • Attention to detail and effective collaboration with experts, Estuarios’ staff, and members of the communication team.
  • Familiar with basic design tools.

Language Required:

English and Spanish.
