Estuario Project Coordinator- Environmental Indicators Monitoring

The Estuario is seeking qualified applicants for an Estuario Project Coordinator for our Environmental Indicators Monitoring project. The Estuario Project Coordinator- Environmental Indicators Monitoring will support the Scientific Director in the implementation of QAPP for Environmental Indicators Monitoring and will be responsible for field activities, documentation and collection of data, and maintenance of materials/supplies used.

ABOUT ESTUARIO

The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501©3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario. The Estuario became part of the National Estuary Program (NEP) in 1994 and is the only tropical and non-continental location within the NEP under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario’s mission is to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. The work is guided by the Estuario Plan, a master restoration plan for the San Juan Bay Estuary officially known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP).

Responsibilities:

The Service Provider will implement the EPA approved Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) titled “Environmental Indicators Monitoring”

  1. Carry out living resources (aquatic biota) and water quality field assessments and according to the QAPP for the Environmental Indicators Monitoring.
  2. Manage all data related to the QAPP for the Environmental Indicator Monitoring and ensure calculations related to mangrove/coastal vegetation data and analysis is integrated according to the QAPP.
  3. Carry out environmental indicator indices calculations, analysis, and reporting according to the QAPP for the Environmental Indicators Monitoring and other analysis as needed.
  4. Support Scientific Director in updating or modifying QAPP for Environmental Indicators Monitoring as needed.
  5. Provide maintenance and transportation of the equipment needed to carry out the module, its workshops, and field work.
  6. Manage inventory of materials/ supplies, and coordinate purchases as needed.
  7. Documentation and reporting of field activities.

 

Required Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  1. Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, chemistry, or related fields
  2. At least 3 years professional experience, preferably in organizations working with environmental conservation, research, or monitoring.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge and professional experience in environmental monitoring.
  2. Experience in environmental fieldwork and implementing safety protocols.
  3. Experience with detailed data management using Excel and other programs.
  4. Ability to coordinate projects virtually and on the field.

 

Start Date:

January 2024

 

Language Required:

Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
