Opportunity for Professional Services Contract

The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership (Estuario) is seeking qualified applicants to provide Community Relations support to the Urban Waters Ambassador, who supports the implementation of the CMP Ecosystem Restoration Project.

ABOUT ESTUARIO
The Corporation for the Conservation of the San Juan Bay Estuary is a 501©3 non-profit organization that operates the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, or Estuario. The Estuario became part of the National Estuary Program (NEP) in 1994 and is the only tropical and non-
continental location within the NEP under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act. The Estuario’s mission is to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed as a sustainable axis of social and economic development. Estuario’s
work is guided by a master restoration plan known as the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) for the San Juan Bay Estuary.

URBAN WATERS FEDERAL PARTNERSHIP- SUPPORT FOR THE CAÑO MARTÍN PEÑA ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION PROJECT
The Caño Martín Peña Ecosystem Restoration Project (ERP) is a complex, multi-million-dollar project that is a priority for the Estuario as a critical environmental justice challenge facing the watershed. The Estuario is an active member of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee for the ERP, and provides water quality monitoring data to the Caño Martín Peña. The Estuario has participated in partnership meetings with representations from US EPA, US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE), US Small Business Administration, US Forest Service, Puerto Rico DNER, the ENLACE Project for the Caño Martín Peña, the Group of the 8 Communities Adjacent to the Caño Martín Peña, among others. These ongoing multistakeholder efforts, led an increase in the amount authorized for the project from $150 M to $256 M after US Congress amended the Water Resources Development Act. As part of the partnership, the Urban Waters Ambassador will continue to efforts towards supporting the CMP ERP. The Community Relations Support will provide support to the Urban Waters Ambassador and to Caño Martín Peña location initiatives and will provide assistance by attending community meetings and activities, coordinating initiatives conducted in the CMP and identifying opportunities for further
engagement.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Identify and generate a list of community meetings or events (updated weekly) coordinated by the G-8, Enlace or Cantera, identifying date, time, location and purpose.
  • Attend community meetings discussed and agreed to with the Urban Waters Ambassador and generate notes related to content of meetings. If permitted by meeting coordinators, document with pictures.
  • Identify and generate a list of initiatives/projects being developed in the CMP area by other entities (universities, federal agencies, non-profits, etc.). List should include a brief description of the initiative/project and should be updated on a monthly basis.
  • Develop contact list of persons in charge of initiatives/projects identified above.
  • Work with the Urban Waters Ambassador in identifying opportunities that could promote further engagement or new collaborations, based on information collected.

  • Experience in projects aimed at the community and its well-being, sustainability, work in the area metropolitan with communities and project management.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the Estuario and its mission.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Provide their own personal computer and transportation
  • Ability to prioritize time efficiently, work independently and manage competing
    priorities.
