Planting of coastal vegetation in Condado Lagoon

On Friday, September 26, 2025, a field experience for the Estuario Certification for Citizen Scientists’ Coastal Resilience module was held in the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Natural Reserve. On this occasion, a volunteer, together with the SJBEP team, planted six trees, including cow tree, cayure, ambay pumpwood and green buttonwood. They also monitored the state of the present vegetation, measuring height and thickness.

The planting was carried out among dying almond trees, observing that button mangroves previously planted in the area have managed to establish themselves successfully. These actions contribute to the ecological restoration of the Reserve and strengthen the resilience of our coastal ecosystems. Thank you to citizen scientist, George Hernandez, for his support!
