The San Juan Bay Estuary Program (SJBEP) is looking to hire a Coastal Resilience Youth Coordinator that will support youth engagement in the Citizen Science Coastal Resilience Module.
Established in 1994, the Estuario is an alliance of public and private entities committed to their collective responsibility to restore and conserve the waters and associated ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its watershed to ensure the prosperity of our tropical ecosystems, the health of our communities and the vitality of the economy in the San Juan Bay Estuary and its urban watershed. The Estuario office serves as a catalyst and facilitator of this alliance and operates as a regional, trustworthy, and science-based non-profit organization registered with the Puerto Rico Department of State. Estuario’s work as a partnership focuses on implementing the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) for the San Juan Bay Estuary.
This position will be responsible for coordinating all communications and scheduling related to outreach and program description presentation with students and their parents. They will collaborate with the Youth Engagement Coordinator to ensure project objectives are accomplished and the Coastal Resilience Project Officer to maintain documentation on the recruitment of high school students and certification requirements completion. The Coastal Resilience Youth Coordinator will also coordinate workshops, training activities and field experiences with the Coastal Resilience Project Coordinator and the Green Infrastructure Coordinator.
This position requires great administrative, organizational, and multi-tasking skills to maintain all project documentation, work plan analysis, recruitment inventories, listing certification completion, and meeting and training scheduling.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares a detailed project work plan, setting and executing deadlines.
- Reports project updates and results to the Coastal Resilience Project Officer and Estuario staff.
- Maintains and manages all project documentation and databases (phone calls, meetings to describe the certification, recruitment lists, scheduling events with young students, coordination with the other coordinators, list and information of students and parents, etc.).
- Conduct and mantains communication with parents and students to the coordination of the workshops and field trips.
- Participate in coastal resilience activities to provide support to Coastal Resilience Coordinator and the Green Infrastructure Coordinator.
- Organizes and schedules the workshops and field experiences in coordination with the Youth Engagement Coordinator, Coastal Resilience Coordinator and the Green Infrastructure Coordinator.
- Coordinates internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within defined scope and timeline with emphasis on overall project progress.
- Tracks project and provides regular reports on project status to project teams and key stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Worker, behavioral science, public administration, and/or relevant field preferred, plus two years of directly-related experience working with young people. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted, as long as it directly relates to the essential duties and responsibilities.
Candidates with experience communicating with students, parents and school administrative personnel to promote the Professional Certification on Coastal Resilience will be preferred
Candidates with experience in scheduling and coordinating events will also be preferred.
