Planting carried out in Piñones
On Saturday, October 3, 36 volunteers from Banco Popular de Puerto Rico planted coastal vegetation in Piñones, as part of the San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership (SJBEP) Certification for Citizen Scientists’ Coastal Resilience module, with a focus on the mangrove ecosystem. The group planted around 25 specimens of bay bean and green buttonwood. They also collected bay bean seeds, collected trash in the area, and received an educational talk about the mangrove. Thanks to Nancy de Jesús Negrón, who led the group along with the SJBEP Education Manager, Sahid Rosado Lausell, and Coastal Resilience Coordinator, Andreína Alexatos. Until next time!
