Deja una huella limpia en Piñones

Estuario presents the community campaign “Deja una huella limpia en Piñones,” an educational effort focused on action to take care of the coastal ecosystems of Piñones, through the reduction of solid waste and its responsible disposal. The effort is possible thanks to the collaboration of the organization LimPiaR.

Last Friday, February 10, 2023, campaign signs were delivered and installed in two businesses in Piñones:

Thanks to these businesses for their commitment!

Deja una huella limpia en Piñones continues the methods of the educational campaign Que no toque el piso ni llegue al agua,  which has 20 businesses and collaborators on Calle Loíza, Santurce.  Both campaigns are part of Estuario’s Aquatic Debris Program.

Weekly water quality monitoring

Evaluation conducted on Thursday, February 23, 2023. We have a GREEN flag for the Condado Lagoon Natural Estuarine Reserve.  The red stations exceeded the water quality parameter for enterococci (70 CFU/100 ml). We recommend avoiding direct contact with these bodies during rainy events (and at least 48 hours after rainfall).

The actions for the restoration and management of bodies of water within the San Juan Bay Estuary Watershed are possible thanks to the public. Donations to the San Juan Bay Estuary Program are deductible from Puerto Rico and US tax returns.
