National Estuaries Week (September 18-25, 2021)
The National Estuaries WeekThis year, 2021, will be commemorated September 18st – 25th. National Estuary Week (NEW) aims to highlight the bays and estuaries around the United States, as well as educate about their environmental, economic, and social importance.

International Coastal Cleanup 2021
Morning Saturday, September 18th, from 9am-11am We began Estuary Week by participating in the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) 2021, led by Scuba Dogs Society.
Estuary continues to adopt the County Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve (RNELC) to carry out its cleaning. This year, for safety reasons, there is a limit of 40 volunteers by coast.
Register HERE. We will be checking the people registered to participate in the event. Representatives from [unclear] will be accompanying us. Friends of the Lagoon, which border the RNELC and which continuously support its conservation and restoration.
Weekly water quality monitoring
Here are the results of the weekly bacteriological monitoring, carried out on Thursday, September 16, 2021. These results are also published by our Facebook page.
We continue with green flag For recreational use of the lagoon. Recent rainfall has resulted in elevated enterococci levels in the eastern part of the lagoon. We recommend avoiding recreational use in areas marked with a red flag. Remember to exercise caution when using natural waters for recreation after rainfall.
Workshops: Identify Capabilities in Your Community
The series continues capacity identification workshops for the development of the Risk and Vulnerability Mitigation Plan for the communities of the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed.
These training workshops aim to show you how to identify the skills, resources, attributes, and strengths that make your community more resilient to disasters. They are divided by municipality for your convenience; this week they will be offered to the communities of Guaynabo and CanóvanasRegister for your workshop at https://estuario.org/capacidades/.
