It has rained a lot this week and the reservoir levels are at 196.62 meters above sea level. Even so, the reservoir is not brown or full of trash.

The location is near a bridge used by vehicles to access their homes. There is also a bridge on the main road. It had recently rained, causing a constant flow of water.

In Guánica Bay there is a drain for aqueducts and sewers, but the drain is located on the left side of the Guánica boardwalk and we took the sample at the far right of the Guánica boardwalk.

It was an unforgettable experience that helped us connect with our classmates outside of school, and we hope it will be repeated in the near future.

To obtain a good reading of the samples, they must be exposed to light. Samples were taken near the tugboat spring.

The water sample was taken from the section that runs under the Enrique Martí Coll Linear Promenade bridge. There was a lot of trash; we had previously cleaned that area and collected a significant amount.

Due to the recent rains, the water was very murky and brown, so the disc was not visible (I entered 100 since there is no other numbering system for these cases). It has been raining all week, and the Culebrinas River has been overflowing its banks, causing a risk of flooding in some areas of Aguadilla and Aguada.

The canal collects the cooling water discharges from the boilers of the Palo Seco Power Plant. The sampling point was at the mouth of the canal where it flows into San Juan Bay, near the entrance to the Isla de Cabras beach resort.

Presence of plecos, various fish, herons, no presence of fecal bacteria.

The calculated saturation percentage was 51%.

There was a yellow flag at the location. Light winds and cool air. Small waves.

Dissolved oxygen was measured in ppm, according to the color code of the reading. The orange color of the dissolved oxygen was very clear.

The activity was carried out within a professional framework by both the participants and the organizers; the students behaved very well, attentive and enthusiastic about the activity.

The night before, as well as the other nights of the week from April 11th until the day of the event, there were heavy downpours, followed by hot and partly cloudy days. A lot of vegetation was present, and a drainage valve from the neighboring municipality was observed.

The water appeared brown. It was mentioned again that variable weather conditions had been observed during the past few days and the previous night, which could result in an increased number of effluent discharges. There was a lot of organic material in the area and on the sand.

I am grateful for the support and participation of Julio Carderon's family, who, after participating at their sampling site, joined together to form a working team. In my opinion, Water Quality Day fulfilled its objective of involving families in caring for our water resources.

There were people swimming and they stirred up organic matter from the bottom of the body of water.
This body of water is a spring within the Caño Tiburones.

The stream water is normally clear; however, rains associated with a trough in the area caused it to experience several rises in the days leading up to the sampling, including the night before. Birds, fish, and turtles were observed in the water, as well as a variety of plants nearby, such as trees and flowers.

The bottom of the ravine appears brownish due to sediment and precipitated organic matter. Food scraps and clothing belonging to a homeless person sleeping under the bridge were found. Approximately 10 drainage pipes run from buildings and business terraces into the ravine. A common yaboa was observed flying above the ravine.

There was abundant vegetation in the surrounding area and almost no trash. There were tadpoles and many birds nearby. Macroinvertebrate monitoring was conducted, and 5 Mayflies (Family Leptophlebiidae) and 1 Caddisfly (Family Philopotamidae) were collected.

The stream is home to about three goldfish of some 5 inches, other native fish and turtles, as well as various wild birds. Calculation of saturation % of dissolved O = 48.

There was a light wind and as the activity ended, it started to rain.

On April 18th, we conducted water quality monitoring at Bizarreta Beach in Juana Díaz under cloudy skies, following heavy rains the previous day in the central mountainous region. During the monitoring, we recorded a dissolved oxygen level of approximately 8 ppm, which is extremely high. However, the pH reading was 6.5, a concerning result as it indicates a trend toward acidity in the system. Turbidity levels ranged between 40 and 100 JTU, resulting in reduced visibility, which we attribute to sediment runoff from the mountains to the coast. Furthermore, with a water temperature of 30°C, nitrates ranging from 5 ppm to 20 ppm, and phosphates at 1 ppm, it is evident that both rainwater runoff and the presence of trash on the shore are altering the area's physicochemical parameters. These findings are fundamental to documenting the impact of upper watersheds and land-based pollution on our coastal ecosystems.

Sampling was carried out on a sunny day following the instructions given in the workshop. There had been downpours in the area in the days prior, but at the time of sampling the water was clear, without any turbidity, and the weather conditions were suitable for collecting field data.

Rainy day, turbid water, but all other parameters turned out to be optimal.

Everything was excellent.
