A big estuarine hug!

This week we began our series of in-person workshops: Identifying Mitigation and Community Resilience Strategies; for the development of Puerto Rico's first Multijurisdictional Risk Mitigation Plan . The first workshop was held with community members from Canóvanas on Wednesday, December 8. We thank the community leaders, residents, and especially the Municipality of Canóvanas for their support in this effort.

We reiterate our commitment to our estuarine communities to prepare and strengthen a more resilient watershed. Continue reading to learn about upcoming workshops.

Mitigation workshops in the municipalities of the Estuary

Estuary continues to collaborate with municipalities in the watershed to facilitate citizen participation in the series of in-person workshops : Identifying Mitigation and Community Resilience Strategies . Learn about upcoming workshops and register on our Mitigation portal. Everyone is welcome: residents and friends of the communities and municipalities.

  • Identifying Community Mitigation and Resilience Strategies – Cataño; Tuesday, December 14, 2021, from 10 AM to 12 PM, at the Vista del Morro Community Center.
  • Identifying Community Mitigation and Resilience Strategies – San Juan; Tuesday, December 14, 2021, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, at the Amphitheater of the University College of San Juan.
  • Identifying Community Mitigation and Resilience Strategies – Toa Baja; Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 5 PM at the Rafael “Pipo” Negrón Activities Center.

Information session for Resident Artists

As part of the Estuary Artists-in-Residence program for the 2022 season, we will be holding an informational meeting to answer questions and introduce the program and its team. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 6 PM via Zoom.

Friends of the Lagoon

We thank the residents, concessionaires, organizations, and members of the public sector who participated in the Friends of the Lagoon virtual meeting last Tuesday, December 7. Your contributions, suggestions, and observations make possible the conservation, sustainable development, and harmonious use of the natural resources of the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Reserve. Congratulations!

Weekly water quality monitoring

Below are the results of the weekly bacteriological monitoring, carried out on Thursday, December 9, 2021. These results are also published on our social media channels.

The restoration and water quality management efforts in the San Juan Bay estuary watershed are made possible by our supporters. Donations to the Estuary are tax-deductible in Puerto Rico and the United States.
