About this forest:

The Capetillo Community Garden, Nursery, and Urban Forest is a collaborative project between the community and the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. Founded in 2008, it provides a space for healthy interaction, recreation, environmental education, and community self-management. Our garden positively impacts children and adults in the community, as well as groups of local and international university students. In 2016, it received the Environmental Champion Award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). To this day, this space continues to be an ecological refuge not only for the community but also for diverse animals and plants, as it is located in a highly urbanized area.
