Compliance Officer – Estuario is seeking a Compliance Officer to join our highly skilled grants management team. This position will help ensure successful management of grants funded by federal and local government agencies.

- August 8th, XNUMX – Ecological assessment of fish and aquatic communities – elective workshop; from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom
- August 12th, XNUMX – Field trip: ecological assessment of the coral reef; from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at County Lagoon
- August 15th, XNUMX – Ecological assessment of seagrasses – elective workshop; from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom
- August 19th, XNUMX – Field trip: monitoring seagrass communities – from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at County Lagoon
- August 30th, XNUMX – Introductory workshop: coastal resilience; from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom
- August 9th, XNUMX – Bird censuses, an introduction to eBird – elective workshop; 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom
- August 16th, XNUMX – Water Quality: Monitoring and Relevance – Elective Workshop; 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom
- August 23th, XNUMX – From Plastics to Microplastics—Public Policy and Its Impacts – Elective Workshop; 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom
We continue to certify high school students with the Coastal Resilience module. These activities can be certified as community service hours or as Green Contact. Grades 9-12, public and private schools. The following are the scheduled field trips for high school students:
- August 5th, XNUMX – Field trip: mangrove monitoring [for high school students]; from 8:00 am to 11:00 am
- August 6th, XNUMX – Field trip: monitoring coral communities [for high school students]; from 8:00 am to 11:00 am
- August 12th, XNUMX – Field trip: ecological assessment of fish and aquatic communities [for high school students]; from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
- August 19th, XNUMX – Field trip: Monitoring seagrass communities [for high school students]; from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
- August 26th, XNUMX – Field trip: monitoring seagrass [for high school students]; from 8:00 am to 11:00 am

Family day out at the County Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve
Estuary invites you to the next family day out at the County Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve, on Saturday, August 5, 2023, starting at 8:00 am at Jaime Benítez Park.
We will have the following activities:

[3:30 pm] – Basic classes and exhibition of Olympic wrestling

[7:00 pm] – Estuary Cinema presents Top Gun: Maverick

Inauguration of the Mural with Awareness
Join us for the unveiling of the Mural with a Conscience! This collaborative art project, led by resident estuary artist Angélica Rivera, was made possible thanks to the contributions of neighbors, friends, and collaborators of the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. We look forward to seeing you on August 5th at 5:00 pm in Jaime Benítez Park.
Estuary Cinema
On Saturday, August 5, 2023, Cine del Estuario presents Top Gun: Maverick at 7:00 pm in Jaime Benítez Park at the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. As always, this screening is free. Bring your blanket or chair!
Planting in the Capetillo Community Garden, Nursery and Urban Forest
The Capetillo Community Urban Garden, Nursery and Forest is looking for volunteers to plant trees on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Register at estuary.org/events.

Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Evaluation conducted on Thursday, August 3, 2023. We have a GREEN flag at the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. Some stations exceeded the water quality parameter for enterococci (70 CFU/100mL). We recommend avoiding direct contact with these areas. Remember to avoid the water during rain events.
