CITIZEN SCIENCE AND EDUCATION MANAGER
The Citizen Science and Education Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Estuary's capacity building efforts and education efforts at a regional level. This position will help develop and communicate data related to baseline conditions through habitat, restoration, or coastal resilience initiatives, volunteer monitoring, and other data sets through education efforts. Friends of the Lagoon Meeting
El Wednesday, November 8, 2023 We will have the next Friends of the Lagoon meeting, at 6:00 pm at Jaime Benítez Park in the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. Friends of the Lagoon is a community action group that collaborates with the Estuary, the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA), and the Municipality of San Juan on the management of the Estuarine Reserve. This meeting is open to neighbors, users, and allies of the Lagoon.

Additional activities and opportunities
On October 10, 2023, the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) published the draft of the Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation, and Resilience Plan for Puerto Rico. This draft was developed by the Committee of Experts and Advisors on Climate Change (CEACC) and outlines actions to reduce risks caused by climate change in multiple sectors throughout the island, as established by Law 33-2019.
During November and December, public hearings will be held to allow the people of Puerto Rico to submit observations and recommendations for inclusion in the Plan. The Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) is currently accepting registrations to appear and testify during the hearings. Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Assessment conducted on Thursday, November 2, 2023. We have a GREEN flag for the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. All shoreline stations met the Beach Action Value water quality standard of 70 CFU/100 ML. Remember to avoid the water during rain events. Have a great weekend!
