Greetings and a warm hug to our entire estuarine community. We hope you are all well upon receiving this email.

Below, we share opportunities for participation, initiatives, and programmatic actions that benefit the San Juan Bay estuary, its ecosystems, and its communities. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of all.

Meetings of the National Advisory Council on Environmental Justice

Estuary urges you to participate in the next public meeting of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Advisory Council on Environmental Justice; Wednesday, November 10, 2021, from 2 PM to 6 PM (AST).

This meeting will inform priorities for the Agency's next work plan. There will be time for questions and comments from the public.

IDDE Task Force in action in the urban center of Río Piedras

The Illegal Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) Task Force, which focuses on the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed, inspected areas of downtown Río Piedras today, Friday, October 29, 2021. For more information, read our article.

Weekly water quality monitoring

Below we share the results of the weekly bacteriological monitoring, carried out on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

After several weeks under red flag conditions, we returned to green flag For the County Lagoon Estuarine Reserve, we continue to observe some areas with red flags; therefore, we recommend avoiding recreational use in those areas and being alert for precipitation events.

Estuary urges you to download the Community Hurricane Preparedness Guide and follow their recommendations this season. The strength and resilience of your community begins at home. This October, we continue to urge communities to recognize the risks of natural disasters and stay informed during this time.
