Through our weekly update, we share opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, and employment; through initiatives and planned actions that benefit the ecosystems and communities of the San Juan Bay estuary. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone.
Estuary Cinema
Estuary Cinema presents Spiderman: No Way Home; tomorrow, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 7 PM at Jaime Benítez Park in the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. This event is free. Bring your blanket or chair. We hope to see you there!
Citizen Scientist Certification
A new round of elective workshops for the certification of citizen scientists with the Estuary begins: don't miss the corresponding workshops with the thematic modules of Coastal Resilience, Characterization and Reduction of Microplastics, Water Quality and Participatory Bird Censuses.

Additionally, if you are interested in becoming certified in the Coastal Resilience module, we have a series of workshops/field trips tomorrow, Saturday, August 6, 2022, starting from 8:30-11:30 AM with the workshop " Coastal Ecosystems: Mangroves and Sand Dunes," which will count as an introductory and elective workshop, followed by a field trip for planting and monitoring red mangroves from 1:30-4:00 PM. There will be a second field trip for planting and monitoring red mangroves on Sunday, August 7, from 8:30-11:30 AM.
Gallery: Annual professional training workshop for interpreters
Saturday, July 23, 2022 — Estuario held its annual professional development workshop for interpreters, themed “From the Path: Activities, Dynamics, and Technologies to Enrich Our Interpretive Journeys.” Participants reviewed definitions and methodologies of interpretation and practiced techniques and the use of applications to strengthen their interpretive programs on the paths of San Patricio Forest.
Register now: Puerto Rico Water Quality Monitoring Day 2022
The time has come! Create your group, choose a monitoring point and participate in the largest citizen science event on the Island: Puerto Rico Water Monitoring Day 2022 will be on Saturday, August 27, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
The next step is to take your training workshop, where you will learn how to use your monitoring kit (which we will provide), the parameters you will be measuring, and how to submit the information you collect during the event.

Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Assessment conducted on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. We have a green flag for the County Lagoon Estuarine Reserve. We recommend avoiding any contact with areas that did not meet quality standards and being alert for precipitation events.
