Estuary Update

Below, we share opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, and training this week, through initiatives and actions planned to benefit the ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its communities.

Educational day at the County Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, join us for the next educational day at the Estuarine Nature Reserve of the County Lagoon, in Jaime Benítez Park.

We'll begin with information tables in the park starting at noon. We'll also have a treasure hunt, an interpretive walk through the reserve, salsa and Puerto Rican folk music classes, and a screening of the Friends of Fort San Jerónimo documentary. Then, at 7:00 pm, stay for the Estuary Cinema screening. We hope to see you there!

The educational afternoon is open to the public. Sign up at https://estuario.org/eventos/ for more information.

Estuary Cinema

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, following the educational day at the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve, Estuary Cinema presents: Jurassic World Dominion; at 7:00 pm in Jaime Benítez Park. This event is free. Bring your blanket or chair!

Water Quality Day 2023

It's coming! Water Quality Day will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Save the date and stay tuned for more information!

Weekly bacteriological monitoring

Assessment conducted on Thursday, January 19, 2023. We have a GREEN flag at the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve, with the exception of the station located in Jaime Benitez Park. We recommend avoiding direct contact with these bodies during rain events (at least 48 hours after the rain has passed).

The restoration and water quality management efforts in the San Juan Bay estuary watershed are made possible by our supporters. Donations to the Estuary are tax-deductible in Puerto Rico and the United States.
