Estuary Update
Greetings from the estuary! Through our weekly update, we inform residents and friends of the communities in the San Juan Bay estuary watershed about events, projects, activities, and training opportunities. This April we celebrate Earth Month. Stay tuned for the efforts we will be making during these days.
International Mother Earth Day
Celebrate with us the International Mother Earth Day This coming Saturday, April 22, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Piñones State Forest. During this activity, we will learn about the importance of urban forests and their biodiversity. This activity counts towards Green Contact hours. Limited spaces available.
We will also have a mangrove planting together with Surfrider Foundation Puerto Rico, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at Playa Jobos, Isabela, as part of the coastal resilience thematic module of our Citizen Scientist Certification Program.

Fifteenth Puerto Rico Water Quality Day Successfully Concludes
Last Saturday, April 1, 2023, marked the fifteenth annual Puerto Rico Water Quality Day. Thank you for making this the largest citizen science event on the island!
See our article with a photo gallery of the event and lists of participants, collaborators, and sponsors. here.
Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Assessment conducted on Thursday, April 13, 2023. We have a GREEN flag for the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. The map identifies the stations that exceeded the water quality parameter for enterococci (70 CFU/100mL). We recommend avoiding direct contact with these bodies of water during rain events.
The restoration and water quality management efforts in the San Juan Bay estuary watershed are made possible by our supporters. Donations to the Estuary are tax-deductible in Puerto Rico and the United States.
