Below, we share opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, and training this week, through initiatives and actions planned to benefit the ecosystems of the San Juan Bay Estuary and its communities.
Christmas Bird Censuses Gamaliel Pagán Hernández
A salute to the estuarine! 140 volunteers that were part of the Gamaliel Pagán Hernández Christmas bird censuses, this 2022-2023 season! Educational day at the County Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve
Certification of scientific citizens
Estuary invites you to become certified as a citizen scientist with the coastal resilience thematic module of the Citizen Scientist Certification Program.
El Thursday, January 26 and Saturday, January 28, 2023, The thematic workshop and field trip, respectively, relevant to the topic of seagrass ecosystems will be offered.

Coastal resilience
Our County Lagoon citizen participation coordinator offered an interpretive tour to students on Tuesday. Illinois College, in the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. The group also planted red mangroves. The activity was done in collaboration with the Marine Environment Society. Congratulations!

Estuary Cinema is back! Saturday, February 4, 2023, do not miss Jurassic World Dominion; At 7 pm in Jaime Benítez Park at the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. This event is free. Bring your blanket or chair!

Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Evaluation conducted on Thursday, January 12, 2023. We have GREEN flag in the County Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. We recommend avoiding areas that did not meet monitoring standards, as well as any body of water during rain events (and at least 48 hours afterward).
The restoration and water quality management efforts in the San Juan Bay estuary watershed are made possible by our supporters. Donations to the Estuary are tax-deductible in Puerto Rico and the United States.
