Estuary Update

Through our weekly update, we share opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, and employment; through initiatives and planned actions that benefit the ecosystems and communities of the San Juan Bay estuary. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone.

Environmental Protection Agency visit

This week, the San Juan Bay Estuary Program received a visit from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to finalize the programmatic evaluation of our organization. This evaluation is conducted every five years to ensure compliance with the actions outlined in the San Juan Bay Estuary Integrated Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP). The team toured various community-based projects in the estuary and, together with community leaders and organizations, witnessed firsthand the results of these efforts.

Message from your Virtual Community Center

Estuary urges you to download the Community Hurricane Preparedness Guide and follow their recommendations this season. The strength and resilience of your community begins at home. This June, we continue to urge communities to recognize the risks of natural disasters and stay informed during this time.

Take advantage of our information platform, the Virtual Estuary Community Center, where you will find vital information to prepare yourself along with your family and community.

We remind you that to learn about Risk Mitigation and identify risks, conditions, and community assets in your community, you can access:  https://estuario.org/mitigacion/

The restoration and water quality management efforts in the San Juan Bay estuary watershed are made possible by our supporters. Donations to the Estuary are tax-deductible in Puerto Rico and the United States.
