Successful Community BioBlitz of Capetillo 2024

The community of Capetillo and CAUCE, in collaboration with the San Juan Bay Estuary, celebrated last Saturday, April 6, the Community BioBlitz of the Capetillo Garden, Nursery and Urban Forest of 2024.

During the activity, the community joined SJBE staff, citizen scientists, professors, and students from the UPR and other entities to document the biodiversity of this urban natural space, located in the middle of Río Piedras and which is part of the SJBE Urban Forest Network.

The participants identified over 200 different species in about 637 observations that were documented through the iNaturalist app.

Thank you to all the neighbors and volunteers who joined us in this participatory science event.
