Second report on the environmental condition of the San Juan Bay Estuary – 2009 Edition

An estuary is a coastal area where freshwater flowing from rivers, streams, and rainwater runoff mixes with saltwater from the ocean. The San Juan Bay Estuary (SBS) system includes San Juan Bay, Condado Lagoon, San José and Los Corozos Lagoon, Torrecilla Lagoon, and Piñones Lagoon, as well as the channels that interconnect these bodies of water, such as the San Antonio Canal, Suárez Canal, and Martín Peña Channel.
