This holiday season, the Estuary held the traditional Christmas bird census Gamaliel Pagan Hernandez, from December 14, 2023 to January 5, 2024.
In summary:
- We conduct 26 censuses en 18 areas of the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed.
- We documented a total of 87 species of birds, including resident and migratory species
- Participated 182 volunteers, who dedicated their time and effort to counting the birds that inhabit and visit the different ecosystems in the Estuary basin.
- We observe 10 endemic species y 21 migratory species
