Estuary Update!
Greetings to our volunteers, collaborators, followers, and the entire estuary community. We hope you are all well as you receive this email. December has begun, and we want to send you a warm estuary hug. We are sharing these initiatives and actions carried out week after week. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone.
Weekly water quality monitoring

Puerto Rico Watershed Symposium 2020
The Puerto Rico Watershed Symposium 2020 will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 , from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The event will address community-based approaches to integrated watershed planning and management on the island.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Thomas H. Douthat, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at Louisiana State University. Dr. Douthat will elaborate on his experiences integrating multisectoral groups in watershed management.

Open studio and upcoming workshop: Estuary Artist in Residence
Be part of the augmented reality filter creation process with Spark AR, from drawing your illustrations to assembling them in the virtual world. Join Estuary's resident artist, Adriana García Soto, every Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 AM to 2 PM, at the La Goyco Community Workshop , starting December 8, 2020.
Additionally, the Estuary's resident artist will lead the third workshop in the series "From Reality to Augmented Reality" on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 5 PM. This workshop, titled "Conceptualizing and Digitizing an Illustration," will begin the process of creating virtual filters using the Spark AR platform. Register for the workshop HERE.
Training workshop: Christmas bird censuses
Learn about, count, and record the birds that inhabit the Estuary's ecosystems, from the mountains to the coast. Participate in the training workshop in preparation for this year's Christmas bird censuses. Presented by the Estuary's manager and education coordinator, Eliezer Nieves Rodríguez and Coral Avilés Santiago, on Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
