Give to the Estuary this #GivingTuesday 2020

For over 25 years, the Estuary has led the restoration of waterways in the Greater Puerto Rico area. Through the implementation of its water quality monitoring strategy to detect and correct illegal discharges, a remarkable improvement has been achieved in the condition of the rivers, streams, lagoons, and beaches of the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed. All the work done during this time has been made possible thanks to donors and volunteers who have given their time and resources to contribute to the improvement of their communities.

Inspired by this same spirit, Giving Tuesday is a global movement of generosity that seeks to unleash the power of individuals and organizations to transform their communities. It was created from a simple idea: to create a day that encourages us to do good. Each of us has the capacity to make a difference. It is with this belief that the Estuary joins in this year's celebration of Giving Tuesday, which will be commemorated on December 1, 2020.

Currently, the Estuary is developing Puerto Rico's first multi-jurisdictional risk mitigation plan. This plan aims to reduce the vulnerability of communities in at least eight municipalities across the island, thereby breaking the cycle of infrastructure damage, property loss, and loss of life. The mitigation plan will be strengthened by sustainable initiatives to be implemented in 2021, including green infrastructure and reforestation projects in the Condado Lagoon and Julio E. Monagas Park in Bayamón, as well as our ongoing work with resilient communities and environmental education programs.

You can help make these projects a reality. With a donation of any amount, you can be part of a community that contributes to cleaner waters and healthier communities in the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed.
