The Fourth Environmental Condition Report of the San Juan Bay Estuary (2024) presents an updated view of the ecological state of the estuarine system, integrating scientific research, environmental monitoring and citizen science experiences to support decision-making and promote the resilience of the metropolitan region.

For more than three decades, ESTUARIO has promoted the scientific monitoring and restoration of the San Juan Bay Estuary through a collaborative effort among researchers, government agencies, communities, and partner organizations. The Fourth Environmental Condition Report of the San Juan Bay Estuary – 2024 Edition compiles the latest findings on water quality, biodiversity, coastal resilience, environmental governance, and the role of citizen science in the conservation of this nationally important ecosystem.

This edition includes 20 scientific and technical articles that document the main advances, challenges, and opportunities for the restoration and sustainable management of the estuary. In addition to presenting updated evidence on the environmental condition of the watershed, the report offers recommendations to support planning, public policy formulation, and informed decision-making.
