PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The San Juan Bay Estuary Program (Estuary) is seeking an Estuary Community Resilience Manager to be part of the relief efforts, as well as the short and medium-term restoration plans within the 97 square miles of the urban estuarine watershed.  

The Community Resilience Manager for the Estuary will support the San Juan Bay Estuary's efforts to revitalize communities and restore waterways in the metropolitan area. Our goal is to develop the communities of the San Juan Bay Estuary system economically, culturally, and socially without compromising the value of the system's ecological resources and services, or the development opportunities for future generations. 

The Community Resilience Manager's work plan will focus on continuing relief efforts and revitalization efforts in this urban area. The Resilience Manager will work closely with the San Juan Bay Estuary Program team, serving as a liaison between a wide range of partners, stakeholders, and volunteers to foster resilience.  

In coordination with the Community Water Network, the Community Resilience Manager in the Estuary will offer workshops on water quality and its monitoring, support the development of nurseries for green infrastructure projects, develop microenterprise business plans for economic empowerment, and help to boost the community resilience platform in the Estuary with great care and passion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Outline a work and action plan for the efforts undertaken by the Estuary in the metropolitan area.
  • Internally coordinate the use of Estuary resources such as training programs, school programs, green infrastructure development, and health care support.
  • Support preparedness efforts to be able to react to disasters and setbacks.
  • Improve community resilience through community and stakeholders to contribute to the development of mitigation plans for the watershed. 
  • Integrate efforts between entities to achieve greater support, efficiencies and avoid duplication of efforts.

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree, or graduate studies, from an accredited university in the areas of Public Administration, Sanitary Engineering, Planning or Social Work.
  • Experience managing projects in a comprehensive manner, incorporating the needs and interests of various sectors. 
  • Experience in projects aimed at the community and its well-being, sustainability, working in the metropolitan area with communities and project management.
  • Extensive experience developing structures to maximize resources, recruit community members, and empower the community 
  • Transportation and own computer.
  • Available to work remotely and 7 days a week, according to the community and PEBSJ calendar.

  • Able to prioritize and plan their activities 
  • Be detail-oriented and careful with your work
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in customer service
  • Excellent spelling and diction (ENGLISH & SPANISH)

COMPENSATION

The compensation for the contract will be discussed and determined based on the candidate's credentials and experience.

Founded in 1994, the San Juan Bay Estuary Program is a non-profit organization whose mission is to restore the San Juan Bay Estuary system, the meeting point of river water with the ocean in eight municipalities.
