Characterizing floating material in Juana Matos

The Trash-Free Waters project , led by the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM), involves monitoring and characterizing the solid waste (floating material) that reaches the Flood Control Pumping Station (EBCI) of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) in the community of Juana Matos in Cataño. Removing this waste prevents contamination of nearby water bodies, helps maintain the station's proper functioning, and reduces the likelihood of flooding in the area.
