World Wetlands Day celebration with bird census

February 2, 2021 – The Estuary participated in a waterfowl census as part of the celebration of Wetlands Day, celebrated every year on February 2.

The census was conducted in the wetlands of the estuary surrounding Corozo Lagoon, San Jose Lagoon, Suarez Canal, and Torrecilla Lagoon. These ecosystems boast a great diversity and abundance of waterfowl.

We continue to conduct bird censuses across the various ecosystems of the Estuary, albeit on a limited scale. We hope to soon be able to call upon our volunteers again to join us in these citizen science activities.
