Estuary wishes you a Happy New Year!
As a resolution for 2024, we reaffirm our commitment to the restoration and management of the waters of the Greater Puerto Rico Metropolitan Area, its ecosystems, and its communities. We are excited to begin our thirtieth year of service alongside you, the dedicated people of the San Juan Bay estuary. Here's to another year!

Water quality module:
– January 11 – Field trip: bacteriological monitoring in the County Lagoon; with Rebeca Rivera, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Participatory bird census module:
– January 11 – Introduction to participatory bird censuses; workshop with Coral Avilés, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom
Coastal resilience module:
– January 12 – Field trip: seed collection; with coastal resilience coordinator Andreína Alexatos, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at the Piñones State Forest
– January 13 – Field trip: planting coastal vegetation and restoring dunes; with Andreína Alexatos, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am in Loíza

The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership, also known as the Estuary, is seeking qualified applications for an Accountant to join our highly skilled team for projects receiving funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The San Juan Bay Estuary Partnership (Estuary) is seeking qualified applicants for the Operations Auditor contract to perform evaluation of the processes and operations, and assess financial and compliance to prevent risks of operations under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funds.
Other activities
Mangrove seed collection:
On December 12, the Estuary's coastal resilience coordinator, Andreína Alexatos, led a group of citizen scientists in the collection of mangrove seeds carried out in the Piñones State Forest.
Harvests like this provide us with the seedlings we plant to restore the green infrastructure that protects our coasts and the communities that live there. Congratulations!
Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Assessment conducted on Thursday, January 4, 2024. We have a GREEN flag for the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. We recommend avoiding areas that exceeded the Beach Action Value water quality standard of 70 CFU/100 ML. Remember to avoid the water during rain events. Have a great weekend!
