We will have Rope Flow classes , yoga, the start of the creative process of the Mural with Conscience by resident artist Angélica Rivera, an interpretive walk, and the presentation of the campaign We Live Together with the Estuary.

Prelude to Estuary Cinema
On Saturday, July 1st, at 6:15 pm , before the Estuary Cinema screening, we will present the " We Live with the Estuary" campaign , giving you an exclusive, big-screen preview of content focused on protecting our estuarine ecosystem. We hope to see you there!

Following Family Day, Cine del Estuario presents: Elvis, starting at 7:00 pm in Jaime Benítez Park. This screening is free. Bring your blanket or chair!
Certification of scientific citizens
The Estuary certifies students in grades 9 through 12 as part of the coastal resilience module. Through this certification, students can complete their Green Contact hours or community service (in a public or private school).
The following are the upcoming events scheduled for high school students:
- July 1th – Field trip: planting and monitoring of mangrove communities – from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the County Lagoon
- July 2th – Field trip: monitoring seagrass – from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, at County Lagoon
- July 5th – Thematic workshop: ecological assessment of coral reefs – from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, via Zoom
- July 8th – Field trip: Coral reef monitoring – 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, at County Lagoon

Summer workshop for educators
The San Juan Bay Estuary and the BirdsCaribbean Warbler Working Group invite you to the workshop for educators: The Warbler and Wetland Conservation, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Cantera Peninsula Community Center.
In addition to the theoretical portion, which will discuss activities from the teacher's manual, " The Marvelous Wetlands of the Insular Caribbean," the workshop will include a field trip. This field trip, a mandatory kayak excursion, will be offered in two sessions (Saturday, July 15, or Sunday, July 16). The meeting point will be shared with registered participants.

The sounds of the estuary
We warmly welcome artist Armando Román, who will be presenting his project The Sounds of the Estuary as part of our resident artists initiative.
The Sounds of the Estuary is a sound recording and documentation project. Part of the creative process will consist of three recording sessions, during which the everyday sounds of various towns located within the estuary and its watershed will be captured. These recordings, and the experiences captured within them, will form the basis of a sound map that will be part of the Estuary Atlas. The recording sessions will take place on July 14, 23, and 27.

Second meeting of merchants from Loíza Street
Last Tuesday, June 27, 2023, the responsible solid waste management initiative, "Don't let it touch the ground or reach the water," invited the merchants of Loíza Street to the La Goyco Community Workshop, where we shared information about Law 51-2022, the Law to prohibit the sale and use of single-use plastics in all commercial establishments.

Characterization of microplastics in San Juan Bay
Last Saturday, June 24, we carried out a field trip as part of the microplastic characterization and reduction module of the Estuary's citizen scientist certification.

Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Assessment conducted on Thursday, June 29, 2023. We have a RED flag in the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. We recommend avoiding areas that exceeded the water quality parameter for enterococci (70 CFU/100mL). Remember to avoid bodies of water during rain events.
