Estuary Update! 

Greetings to our entire estuarine community. We send you our warmest regards and hope you are well upon receiving this email. We share These initiatives and actions are carried out week after week. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone. 

This week in commemoration of International Women's Day, We recognize the women of the Estuary and all those who, in one way or another, contribute to the well-being of the environment of Puerto Rico.

 

Weekly water quality monitoring

We present the results of the weekly water quality monitoring, made the Thursday, March 11, 2021. These are published every Friday for our Facebook page.

The Estuary participated in the Vibra Verde event at the Machuchal Market

Last Sunday, March 7, 2021, the Estuary was present in Green Vibes; an event that brought together artists and brands conscious of the well-being of the Planet in the Machuchal MarketWe were presenting our activities and projects, including the campaign "It shouldn't touch the floor or reach the water.", dedicated to the proper management of solid waste and used cooking oil in the community of Calle Loíza.

We thank all those who They took a walk around our table and used the Estuary filters.

Register for the Estuary Citizen Scientist Certification Workshop: Introduction to Microplastics and Other Aquatic Debris

Participate in the new series of workshops for the Estuary Citizen Scientist Certification. This next Wednesday, March 17 of 2021 Don't miss the workshop Introduction to Microplastics and Other Aquatic Debris, From 3-4 PM via Zoom, with Cristina Ramírez Colón, coordinator of alliances and aquatic waste projects of the Estuary. 

This workshop This presentation introduces the concept of aquatic debris, specifically microplastics found in estuarine water bodies. We will also share ways to reduce, collect, and remove these microplastics from the aquatic environment.

We thank the 103 citizen scientists who participated last Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in the Workshop: Introduction to Water Quality Monitoring offered by Harold Manrique Hernández, coordinator of water quality monitoring and citizen science of Estuary.

These are the results of their project “From reality to augmented reality”, carried out in the community of Machuchal with the support of the La Goyco Community Workshop.
