Estuary Update!
Greetings to our entire estuary community. We send you our warmest regards and hope you are well as you receive this email. We are sharing these initiatives and actions carried out week after week. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of all.
This week, in commemoration of International Women's Day , we recognize the women of the Estuary and all those who, in one way or another, contribute to the well-being of the environment of Puerto Rico.
Weekly water quality monitoring
We present the results of the weekly water quality monitoring, carried out on Thursday, March 11, 2021. These are published every Friday on our Facebook page.
The Estuary participated in the Vibra Verde event at the Machuchal Market
Last Sunday, March 7, 2021, Estuario was present at Vibra Verde, an event that brought together artists and brands committed to the well-being of the planet at the Machuchal Market . We were there presenting our activities and projects, including the "Don't Let It Touch the Ground or Reach the Water" campaign , dedicated to the proper management of solid waste and used cooking oil in the Loíza Street community.
We thank everyone who stopped by our table and used the Estuary filters.
Register for the Estuary Citizen Scientist Certification Workshop: Introduction to Microplastics and Other Aquatic Debris
Join the new series of workshops for the Estuary Citizen Scientist Certification . This coming Wednesday, March 17, 2021, don't miss the workshop " Introduction to Microplastics and Other Aquatic Debris ," from 3-4 PM via Zoom, with Cristina Ramírez Colón, coordinator of aquatic debris partnerships and projects for the Estuary.
This workshop introduces the concept of aquatic debris, specifically the microplastics found in estuarine water bodies. We will also share ways to reduce, collect, and remove these materials from the aquatic environment.

We thank the 103 citizen scientists who participated last Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in the Introduction to Water Quality Monitoring Workshop offered by Harold Manrique Hernández, coordinator of water quality monitoring and citizen science of the Estuary.

We thank everyone who has used the augmented reality filters created by Estuary Resident Artist Adriana García (@agarestudio). These are the result of her project “From Reality to Augmented Reality,” carried out in the Machuchal community with the support of the La Goyco Community Workshop. They have been used more than 1,000 times since their release.
