Deep Estuary: Episode 2

The Estuary invites you to listen to the second episode of Deep Estuary , a bi-weekly podcast featuring in-depth interviews with key players in the restoration and management of the waterways that surround us. In this episode, Millie Gil interviews Cristina Ramírez, the Estuary's coordinator of aquatic sediment partnerships and projects, who discusses a variety of awareness projects about waste management and the importance of reducing plastic use. Participate in the new series of Workshops for Citizen Scientists.

We begin this coming Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 3 PM via Zoom, with Harold Manrique, Coordinator of Monitoring and Citizen Science for the Estuary, who will be speaking with Nelson Velázquez Reyes, Director of Permits and Franchises for the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, about water resource conservation and management. The Estuary invites you to explore the concept of gross motor skills and offers three activities you can do using materials you find at home. During this time of physical distancing, it's important to continue developing our children's gross motor skills.

We share weekly monitoring data for the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Reserve and surrounding beaches . We publish new results every Friday at 3 PM on our Facebook page.

Puerto Rico's Water Quality Monitoring Day is coming up on August 29, 2020. Register at https://estuario.org/diademonitoreo, adopt a body of water, and participate in the island's largest citizen science event. Attend the Training Workshop on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 , and learn about the tools and protocols for conducting your monitoring.
