Estuary Update!
Greetings to our entire estuarine community. We send you our warmest regards and hope you are well as you receive this email. We are sharing these initiatives and actions carried out week after week. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of all. Last January 26th, we celebrated Environmental Education Day , which is a fundamental part of our daily lives. We thank all the environmental organizations, communities, teachers, parents, students, collaborators, and estuarine guardians who support our mission to educate about the importance of caring for our ecosystems.

Practical workshop: Creating content for community organizations
Don't miss it! This coming Monday, February 1st at 6:00 pm, we invite you to participate in a hands-on workshop led by our Resident Artist, Adriana García . We 're continuing with the project: From Reality to Augmented Reality . In the workshop, you'll learn: how to maintain visual consistency in your social media content, how to design and create content with free tools, and how to identify free resources for visual content.

Estuary Cinema
Next Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 7:00 PM, we will resume Estuary Cinema. We continue presenting Estuary Cinema through our Facebook page, featuring a special edition of environmental documentaries produced by the Ferré Rangel School of Communication and the Community Engagement Program of Sacred Heart University (USC) . This time, discover the environmental documentaries that showcase our realities and the efforts of environmental organizations that work daily for the environment and their communities.
Multijurisdictional Risk Mitigation Plan for the San Juan Bay Estuary Basin
As part of the development of the Risk Mitigation Plan for the Communities of the San Juan Bay Estuary Basin, representatives of the nine municipalities that make up the Estuary's watershed (San Juan, Bayamón, Canóvanas, Carolina, Cataño, Loíza, Toa Baja, Trujillo Alto, Guaynabo) met for an Integration Meeting , held on Wednesday , December 16, 2020.
During this meeting, green infrastructure tools were presented to achieve compliance with the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (commonly known as MS4 ) permits and which of these tools are eligible for Community Development Block Grant (CDGB-MIT) Mitigation funds.
On December 17, 2020 , an extraordinary meeting of the Estuary Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) and collaborators was held . The meeting focused on uniting various sectors to develop the Risk Mitigation Plan for the communities of the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed.

Call: IEnvironmental indicators for the San Juan Bay Estuary: Assessment of contaminants in sediments and fish tissues.
We are sharing the following call for proposals to conduct a study of contaminants in sediments and fish tissues. You must attend an information session on Friday, February 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM . For more information, click HERE.
Join the Community Water Network
We continue to invite everyone to participate and collaborate in the Community Water Network (RCA).
We thank each of the neighbors and leaders who have participated since the beginning of this network. They have been instrumental in the restoration projects and the building of resilient communities in the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed. Learn about this and other projects that will be taking place this year.

Support Research at the University of Puerto Rico – Developing the infrastructure for the team of wood producers in Puerto Rico
The University of Puerto Rico and the University of Central Florida are conducting research on the services and management practices in wood production on the Island to determine the viability of a wood industry in Puerto Rico.
The Estuary is serving as a link to disseminate the following survey to support research and understand the population's perception of the timber industry on the Island.
