Participate From the public forum: Actions to improve our water quality: complying with the consent agreement
The Estuary invites you to participate in the forum through Facebook Live next Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PMJoin the discussion on the action plans needed to eliminate illegal connections and discharges to our watershed's storm sewer systems.
These action plans are products of consent agreements made in 2015 between the Municipality of San Juan (MSJ), the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) and the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTOP) with the U.S. federal government.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes the San Juan Bay Estuary Program Officer
EPA Region 2 (NJ, NY, PR, USVI) recognizes Evelyn Huertas and the work she does in the Caño Martín Peña area within the San Juan Bay Estuary.
Evelyn and the EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) are using stable isotope methods and historical analyses to understand the role of carbon and nitrogen in the estuary's ecosystem dynamics. Evelyn Huertas has served as a liaison between ORD researchers and the communities along the Caño Martín Peña, prioritizing the improvement of their quality of life.
