Estuary Update

Through our weekly update, we share opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, and employment; through initiatives and planned actions that benefit the ecosystems and communities of the San Juan Bay estuary. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone.

This coming Wednesday, June 1st, marks the start of the 2022 hurricane season. Estuary urges you to download the Community Hurricane Preparedness Guide and use their recommendations. The strength and resilience of your community begins in your home.

Also visit the Virtual Estuary Community Center, where you will find vital information, such as relevant emergency numbers and instructions for preparing emergency backpacks. Don't panic! Get ready.

Weekly Water Quality Monitoring

Evaluation carried out on Thursday, May 26, 2022. We continue with green flag in the County Lagoon Estuarine Reserve. The beach area in front of Baldorioty did not meet monitoring standards. We recommend avoiding this area and remaining alert for precipitation events.

The restoration and water quality management efforts in the San Juan Bay estuary watershed are made possible by our supporters. Donations to the Estuary are tax-deductible in Puerto Rico and the United States.
