Join the team at Estuario. Come to our Job Fair this Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (first session) and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (second session), at the Estuario office (1315 Avenida Ponce de León, San Juan, PR 00907).
There are opportunities in the areas of administration, communications, information technology, intersectoral relations, water quality, education, and green infrastructure. Bring your resume.

- December 12 – Field trip: red mangrove seed collection; with Andreína Alexatos, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Piñones State Forest
- December 12 – Thematic workshop: Mangroves and dunes; with Andreína Alexatos, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom
- December 16 – Field trip: planting of coastal vegetation; with Andreína Alexatos, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at La Pocita de Piñones
- December 19 – Thematic Workshop—Ecological Assessment of Marine Habitats: Coral Reefs and Seagrass Meadows; with Daritzel. Cintron, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom

Coastal cleanup in Piñones
The community campaign for responsible solid waste management, Deja una huella limpia en Piñones, in collaboration with COPI, Arrecifes Pro-Ciudad, CRES, Surfrider Foundation, LimPiaR and the Estuario, invites you to participate in a cleanup in the coastal region from Boca de Cangrejos to Vacía Talega, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The Estuario will be leading the cleanup of the La Pocita area. Sign up with us, at estuario.org/eventos.
Gamaliel Pagán Hernández Christmas Bird Censuses
This season, we will be conducting censuses at 18 points around the San Juan Bay estuary, between the dates of December 14, 2023 and January 5, 2024.

Other activities
During the family day at the Condado Lagoon Natural Estuarine Reserve this past Saturday, December 2nd, we held an informational tour, courtesy of our Public Participation Specialist and Bird Census Coordinator, Eliezer Nieves, and our Environmental Educator, Coral Avilés. The participants learned about the importance of this estuarine ecosystem, and conducted a bird census in the area.

On Saturday, December 2, 14 volunteers accompanied our Coastal Resilience Coordinator, Andreína Alexatos, in the planting of around 750 coastal trees on half a hectare of the Northeast Ecological Corridor in San Miguel, Luquillo, as part of the coastal resilience module of the Estuario Certification for Citizen Scientists.
Recycling stations at La Goyco Christmas Celebration:
The community campaign, Que no toque el piso ni llegue al agua, thanks the commitment and willingness of the 16 volunteers who supported the recycling stations at the Christmas Celebration of Taller Comunidad La Goyco on Saturday, December 2, 2023. We diverted three bags of aluminum (35 pounds) and one bag of plastic (7 pounds), among other materials.
