Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022—Estuarine citizen scientists took our introductory and elective workshops on coastal tropical ecosystems and sand dune restoration, at the Balneario de Carolina. Then, they actively participated in the restoration process where they placed wooden stakes for sand retention and planted coastal vegetation for sand stabilization. Activities were also carried out to identify microplastics and monitor water quality. This event was held in collaboration with Vida Marina at UPR Aguadilla.  Participants received their certification as citizen scientists in the Coastal Resilience Thematic Module.
