For over 25 years, Estuario has been a leader in water restoration in the Puerto Rico Metropolitan Area. Through the implementation of the Island’s only water quality monitoring strategy to detect and correct illicit discharges, there has been notable improvement in the condition of the rivers, streams, and beaches connected within the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed. The work and countless projects realized in this timeframe have been made possible by people just like you, who give their time and resources to contribute to the betterment of their communities.
Inspired by this same attitude, GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that aims to unleash the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. It was created with a simple idea: to celebrate a day that encourages people to do good. Estuario believes in the power of each individual to make a change, and joins the celebration of this year’s GivingTuesday, which will be celebrated December 1, 2020.
Currently, Estuario is developing Puerto Rico’s first ever multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, which will reduce the vulnerability of communities in at least 8 municipalities and break the cycle of repeated damage through the loss of property and people. The mitigation plan will be reinforced through other initiatives, such as our green infrastructure and reforestation projects in areas such as the Condado Lagoon and Julio E. Monagas Park in Bayamon, along with our continued work in building community resilience and environmental education.
You can help these projects come to fruition. With a donation of any amount you can add yourself to the ever-growing list of people who contribute to cleaner waters and healthier communities in the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed.
