WE ARE LOOKING FOR A COORDINATOR FOR THE WATER QUALITY MONITORING DAY IN THE ESTUARY OF PUERTO RICO
The Puerto Rico Estuary Water Quality Monitoring Day is the largest citizen science event in Puerto Rico, led by the San Juan Bay Estuary, and the only island-wide water quality monitoring event. Since 2009, more than 10,000 citizen scientists have participated. This year marks its 11th edition and will take place on April 6.
To coordinate this important event, we are seeking a Coordinator for this significant day. The coordinator should demonstrate enthusiasm for bringing this important event to all sectors and increasing participation, taking into account the numbers from previous years. Water quality and safe water for all in Puerto Rico should be their guiding principles when applying for this job opportunity. The coordinator's main responsibilities will be:
(1) Promote collaboration between organizations, academia, government agencies and private corporations.
(2) Seek sponsorships for monetary support of the event.
(3) Offer workshops on methodology in the water sample collection process at the island level.
(4) Distribute monitoring and information materials to the monitoring stations. Provide support to the groups and individuals participating before, during and after the event.
(5) Submit the data to the San Juan Bay Estuary database and the “World Water Monitoring Challenge” database.
Requirements:
(1) Have experience coordinating events with volunteers and various collaborators.
(2) Possess skills in coordinating workshops and group training.
(3) Preferably have participated in the Puerto Rico Water Quality Monitoring Day.
(4) Have a personal computer, own car and availability to travel across the Island.
