The project “ Rescuing Glass ” had the dual function of carrying out training where the community can learn about the countless artistic expressions that glass can offer and generating an audiovisual documentation that captures this process of activating the community to have a massive reach, so as to revolutionize how people see the glass bottles they consume.
The project was carried out in rotating phases of research, dissemination, and production. An online survey was conducted to gauge community trends in glass waste management; educational videos titled “What to Do with Your Glass” were published weekly, showcasing various ideas for reusing glass bottles without requiring special equipment; and a demonstration was held during the La Goyco Community Fair, along with two Craft Marathons over two weekends. Participants brought their glass bottles to these events and created a variety of crafts for their personal enjoyment. Simultaneously, several interviews were conducted with professionals from various organizations to be included in an audiovisual piece summarizing the residency.
Michelle Malley Campos , born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on November 26, 1985, is an award-winning screenwriter and director with over 10 years of professional experience working in the Puerto Rican film industry. In addition to filmmaking, Malley Campos is part of the Taller Comunidad La Goyco team, which supports her project Cinema Paradiso – Community Cinema: a series of outdoor film screenings in reclaimed spaces, offering free screenings of local films, documentaries, Hollywood classics, and lesser-known foreign films for the entire community.
